Meet Joe
Joe Salvi is a father, husband, small-business owner, and native of Lake County, Illinois.
Joe has deep local roots. Joe’s parents—each one of nine children—grew up in Lake Zurich and Waukegan, and much of his very large extended family still calls Lake County home. Joe was born at Good Shepherd Hospital, was raised in unincorporated Lake County near Wauconda with his five siblings, was an altar server at St. Peter Church in Volo, and attended Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein.
Joe earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science with a minor in Economics from the University of Notre Dame and later received his Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois College of Law, graduating magna cum laude. While in law school, Joe served as President of Student Legal Relief, Vice President of the Federalist Society, and worked in the Veterans Legal Clinic, advocating for those who served our country. He also worked as a Research Assistant on issues related to state and local government, gaining insight into the challenges and opportunities that local communities face, and interned for the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office, learning firsthand how the decisions of the Lake County Board affect our County’s departments.
Today, Joe manages and is a partner at his small family law firm, Salvi & Maher, LLP, where he represents clients throughout Lake County and beyond. He is also an Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Naval Reserves based out of Fort Sheridan, where he continues his commitment to service and country.
Joe’s political experience spans from grassroots leadership to national policy work. He managed a successful Congressional campaign for the U.S. House in 2016, served with the National Economic Council in the White House in 2017, and interned for the Illinois General Assembly Republican In-House Counsel in 2019. Locally, Joe has been a precinct committeeman in both Fremont and Cuba Townships and currently serves as President of the Lake County Young Republicans.
After law school, Joe and his wife returned home to Lake County. They live in the Village of Barrington with their three children, ages 3, 2, and newborn. The family attends St. Anne Catholic Church in Barrington, and Joe is a member of the Barrington Men’s Fraternity, a Christian men’s group. He is also a crossfitter and a former high school hockey coach.
Joe is running for Lake County Board to fight for a better, freer, and more affordable Lake County for his children—a place where families can thrive, small businesses can grow, and the government works for the people, not against them.
